We cut a path into the prairie from the big field – makes it easier to get in, and easier to work on it if we can drive the gator in.
Cutting the path was an adventure – we had to get through some pretty thick brush. Here’s the woods before we cut the path:

I also cut some of the sumac near where the path enters the prairie, and painted the stumps with Tordon. I’ll see how the prairie plants survive, and then consider whether to do more cutting next year. There’s lots of sumac invading the middle of the prairie.
